In 2009, Elliot designed and developed an online collaborative environment for Columbia University's Center for Computational Learning Systems. He based this user-driven interactive workspace on an open source Content Management Framework called Drupal. Features include dynamic database driven data, organic groups, user profiles, professional blogs, events management, news feeds, incoming and outgoing RSS feeds and integration for the research scientists to sync their publications with Google Scholar.

Prior to developing the social network for Columbia University, he worked at Sony Music. Elliot was an Advertising Manager in Creative Services, executing consistent cross-media ad campaigns for the label's legendary musical artists, many signed to Columbia Records. He managed the Advertising for Grammy winning albums by John Mayer, Dixie Chicks and Tony Bennett. Other artists included: Aerosmith, Audioslave, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Buddy Guy, Cee-Lo, Danny Elfman, The Fray, Good Charlotte, Il Divo, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Johnny Cash, Luther Vandross and Matisyahu.
Elliot took on a more technical role as a Digital Media Engineer in Sony's Global Digital Operations, where he managed the digital production of album artwork and packaging files for Sony's international digital archive. This is where he found his love for developing collaborative online environments to centralize information interactively. Elliot streamlined international technical support for Sony Music's digital media assets with an online Content Management System and Social Network.

Elliot Sorkin has his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Advertising from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He has also studied Computer Science at the University of Maryland, Information Architecture at the School of Visual Arts and Branding at Columbia University.
